COMMUNITY SERVICES
SERVICES
The Community Services Department at West Nile Welfare Association has developed rapidly over the last few years. We are here to help you find the services or advice you need. We have a Community Coordinator (Services Manager) volunteer based at our office and is responsible for developing and supporting services. The Coordinator is assisted by a team of volunteers.
The volunteers’ role is a varied one and depends to some degree on the needs of the local people. They all offer advice, information and support to West Nile Community, their families and carers.
They visit clients in their own homes, identifying their needs and if required referring them to the appropriate agencies or services.
Advice and Information
People contact the organisation for advice or information on housing, benefits, health, social issues, financial problems, personal problems, and all other issues that may affect them or their family's lives.
Legal Services

Health Promotion
We are very keen on raising awareness of health issues. Leaflets are available at our office and other community centres. We have awareness sessions and campaign to promote better health opportunities for West Nile Community.
Home Support Scheme
This service allows older people and sickly people to stay independent in their own homes safely and with dignity, by providing care and support to them and their carers with individually tailored services.
The service is for older people as well as sick people who need help with personal or social care whether for as little as one hour a week or full daily care.
Home Support Scheme
West Nile Welfare Association’s Home Support Scheme
Are you older or sick and find it difficult to remain independent in your own home?
Getting all those chores done can be difficult. Imagine - a carer in your home that you can trust. We can find you a carer you can rely on to help you with
- Personal Care
- Shopping and pension collection
- Preparation and cooking of meals
- General housework including cleaning inside windows and changing curtains
- Sitting
- Getting up and putting to bed
- Medication prompt
Who the 'carers' are
The Carers have all been carefully selected by West Nile Welfare Assocition. They are sensitive to the needs of older people and trained to provide a quality service.
We aim to ensure that the same person visits you each time wherever possible.
How the service works
We will arrange a home visit to discuss your needs. This may take place with your family or carer if appropriate.
We will then design the service as flexible as you need it to be:
- From as little as one hour a week to full service of care
- On a short or long term basis
- Accommodating future changes in your needs
Confidentiality
West Nile Welfare Association offers confidentiality to everyone who uses our services. Nothing that we learn from you when you use our services will be passed on to anyone outside the organisation without your express permission. |
