West Nile Welfare Association

Improving lives of West Nile Community resident in UK

VOLUNTEERING

What You Mean to Us

Our volunteers are a key resource to West Nile Welfare Association. We currently have more than 10 volunteers and without them we could not provide the services we do. We always need more volunteers and even as little as one or two hours each week can make all the difference

You have a great deal to offer the West Nile community of UK, even by just being there you can help bring happiness into many lives. As well as the satisfaction that helping the disadvantaged can give you and the friends you can make in doing so, being a volunteer is a good way of gaining experience in a working environment. This could also offer a useful source for references for future job applications.

If you have thought about becoming a volunteer but think you are the wrong type of person for the job, think again. We need people to help with all aspects of the Organisation and that means there is something for everyone. If you want to become a volunteer we are willing to accept you regardless of age, gender, ability and health. Everyone is welcome.

How Can You Help?

There are many areas of specialisation in which volunteers can offer their services, including :-

  • Receptionists (Meet and Greet, Guidance)
  • Receptionists (Telephone duties)
  • Administration
  • Marketing and Fundraising
  • Day Centre Volunteering
  • Cleaning

The above list only covers the general areas of voluntary work available. You may have other skills that could be of great use to us, or some other area of specialisation that relates to the above list.

Does Volunteering Affect Your Benefits?

Becoming a volunteer for West Nile Welfare Association will not affect any benefits you might receive. There is nothing to worry about provided you inform your Benefits Officer or Job Centre and you are willing to:

  • Continue looking for a job.
  • Give up being a volunteer to start a job.
  • Start work at 48 hours notice.

Plus providing you do not receive any payment for your work other than expenses. If you want further information you should contact your Benefits Officer and ask for leaflet WK4.
